(M1) VIRTUAL TRANSNATIONAL MEETING – GRETA DU VELAY (FRANCE), 22nd February 2021

Date: 22/02/2021

Place: VIRTUAL – GRETA DU VELAY (FRANCE)

Brief description:

The first Transnational Meeting of the project had to be held online, via Skype, due to mobility restrictions derived from the restrictions of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The meeting began with a first space for the introductions of the participants and the partner entities, then we gave way to a detailed presentation of the project, its characteristics, and the different expected results. Later, the evaluation report by SEPIE was shown and revised to publicize and include the proposals for improvement and modifications noted. With a good participation of the partner entities, we exchanged experiences and realities on the development of the results and the Intellectual Output with the aim of providing teachers with all the necessary tools to detect Hate Speech and harassment in their classrooms, work with their students, and generate processes of inclusion among them through collaborative work.

Regarding the Intellectual Output, its objectives and characteristics were presented, and the format to be used was defined and established, to follow the proposed methodology. Accordingly, guidelines were also pointed out on which to build a first proposal for the “R1: Virtual environment for the detection of harassment and Hate Speech in the classroom”, so that it would serve to implement in turn the “O2: KITS AGAINST DISCRIMINATION”. Lastly, tasks and managers were assigned and the schedule was revised. The first proposals for materials and visibility activities (web, networks, corporate image…) were also presented.

(M2) TRANSNATIONAL MEETING IN VALENCIA – REDTREE (SPAIN), 9th July 2021

Date: 09/07/2021

Place: VALENCIA – REDTREE (SPAIN)

Brief description:

Benefiting from the improving situation in terms of mobility restrictions around the partner countries for the summer, on July 9 we were able to physically hold this 2nd Transnational Meeting of the project in Valencia. Its main objective was to present and evaluate the progress made so far, monitor the activities carried out, and strengthen ties between the participants.

Thanks to the exchange of realities and experiences between the participants and the previous analysis work carried out by each of the participating organizations, it allowed us to finish defining not only the conceptual framework on which to structure the open educational resources and add a fifth cataloging for those related to freedom of expression, but also the main shapes or types Hate Speech takes in schools and learning environments.

In the same way, ideas and assessments were provided on the first proposal presented of the main tangible result: “R1 – Virtual environment for the detection of harassment and Hate Speech in the classroom”. These served to determine a virtual environment on the one hand that serves as a didactic tool to detect Hate Speech among students in the classroom and the various forms it takes; and from this analysis offer specific strategies and resources as tools to promote inclusion and remove such Hate Speech from the classroom. This will also serve as a virtual training space where students are the direct agents who build their learning through debate and the exchange of opinions and experiences. He also presented at the meeting the creation of the project website https://www.educationstopshate.eu/. Towards the end of the meeting, the timetable was revised and future tasks and activities agreed.

(M3) TRANSNATIONAL MEETING (PORTUGAL)

Date: 09/02/2022

Place: OPORTO – RIBALTAMBIÇÃO (PORTUGAL)

Brief description:

The third Transnational Meeting of the project focused on the coordination of outstanding activities, as well as the review and evaluation of progress made in the results of the project that were already well advanced.

In this way, the initial test to detect Hate Speech in the classroom was analyzed among all the participants, along with the interactive platforms (Kahoot, Quiziz, GoogleForms…) that already have test templates, so that any teacher can use them with their students. IES Isaac Peral, project partner, has already begun to test this result with its students with very good results.

The advances made in the programming of the virtual environment were coordinated, as well as the functioning of the bots that detect words or expressions of hatred and recommend to teachers and students the Open Educational Resource related to the detected Hate Speech.

Lastly, the schedule, upcoming meetings, activities, and tasks of the project still to be carried out were reviewed and confirmed.

(M4) TRANSNATIONAL MEETING VALENCIA (SPAIN)

Date: 17/05/2022

Place: VALENCIA – REDTREE (SPAIN)

Brief description:

The fourth Transnational Meeting of the project focused mainly on its evaluation and dissemination phase.

Thus, the completed results of the project were evaluated, with a very positive result, and some proposals for improvement that were incorporated later were made. The pilot tests pending completion were also completed.

All pending tasks of the dissemination phase of the project were also coordinated: publications on social networks and websites of the partner organizations and other interested entities, dissemination of the results among their beneficiaries, secondary education students, and teachers, as the main target groups of the project.

Lastly, the participants valued and approved the dissemination of the results of the project through the International Education Congresses EDULEARN 2022 (14th annual International Conference on Education and New Learning Technologies) and ICERI 2022 (15th annual International Conference of Education, Research, and Innovation). The participation in these educational congresses is very relevant, since they allow to expand the diffusion and the impact of the project inside and outside Europe.
